This week and every week, Usdan students pursued their own creative expression while also experiencing the creativity of others. They focused on technique, skill, and the sometimes messy creative process on the one hand and the effort it takes to produce and perform a final product on the other.

This week, we welcomed 275 new members to our creative community. With them, our new students and faculty brought an influx of creativity, curiosity, and delight.

These past four weeks, we were reminded that children are playful and imaginative, messy and unpredictable, and designed to be very different from each other. As adults who care about children, we aim to create an environment at camp in which our children can grow and thrive as their unique selves; a place where they all feel welcomed, included, and equal.

With thoughtfulness, we welcomed our second group of parents and caregivers who visited as audience members for Wednesday's delightful performance by some of our Instrumental Ensemble Majors. Secruity Guards, Safety Monitors, and Dean and Health Office staff watched over us with care. We stayed cool and recharged by relaxing in the shade with friends, refilling our water bottles, practicing deep breathing on our yoga mats, and running through the misters around campus.

This week, we were reminded of a core reason why camp is important for our children: At Usdan, students feel meaningfully connected to a community of children and adults who share their passion for the arts.
