Usdan Summer Camp for the Arts Announced First-Ever “Uniquely U” Scholarship Recipients

inspired by the incredible passion, depth of creativity and individuality demonstrated

Usdan Summer Camp for the Arts announced the inaugural class of  “Uniquely U” Scholarship recipients.

After reviewing hundreds of applications received from across Long Island and around New York City, Usdan chose nine young artists to receive full seven-week “Uniquely U” scholarships  this summer:
●    Dance: Kiera Canton (7th Grade, Springfield Gardens)
●    Instrumental Music: Kloie Liao (5th Grade, Roslyn) and Dorian Williams (7th Grade, Central Islip)
●    Theater: Alyssa Samuels (9th Grade, Albertson)
●    Visual Art: Chase Brown (7th Grade, South Ozone Park) and Cruze Brown (6th Grade, South Ozone Park)
●    Vocal Music: Kingston Johnson (3rd Grade, Islandia)
●    Writing: Olivia Caraccioli (6th Grade, Manhattan) and Aponi Kafele (4th Grade, Brooklyn)

In addition, Herricks’ Denton Avenue Elementary School was awarded the School Scholarship — a full seven-week Usdan scholarship for any student they choose—since that institution yielded the largest number of “Uniquely U” applicants.

“We were inspired by the incredible passion, depth of creativity and individuality demonstrated by all the Uniquely U applicants,” says Lauren Brandt Schloss, Executive Director of Usdan Summer Camp for the Arts. “We are excited to offer full scholarships for these nine students to help them further explore what makes them uniquely themselves.”
