2023 Summer Theme: Imagination and Harmony

In our lives, we often feel unable to express our deepest thoughts and feelings in a way that feels authentic or specific. Usdan Summer Camp for the Arts strives to remedy this by creating a space where students can - in the words of co-founder Suzanne Usdan - “lose yourself for a summer and find yourself for a lifetime.” This vision, embodied in the Usdan art studios, the long summer days, the music, the laughter, and the ice cream, stays true year after year.

In 2022, our community celebrated WATER as the guiding theme of our camp season. This year, we’re excited to explore two connected themes: IMAGINATION in 4-week A and HARMONY in 4-week B. Through using our imaginations in harmony we collectively create a world we want to live in.

In the words of James Baldwin:

Imagination
creates the situation,
and, then, the situation
creates imagination.
