Jimmy's Usdan Experience
What was your favorite class or Usdan activity?
My favorite class at Usdan was wind ensemble. There was a kid that would say “name any tune, ANY tune” and would play it back to me on the trumpet. Wildly talented peers helped encourage me while keeping me humble!
What is your favorite Usdan memory?
My favorite Usdan memory is getting the vanilla/chocolate ice cream with the small wooden spoon on the walk to the bus.
How did your experience as a Usdan student prepare you to contribute creatively to your community?
Usdan taught me to build creative relationships with strangers without a constant adult presence, so I had to build real social skills in the moment. I’ve tried my best translate that into tackling every fresh room I walk into, be it a new audition or a final rehearsal. We’re all just kids looking to play.
