Mel Jackson

Joining the Usdan community in the summer of 2014, this year marks my 10th year of teaching and 13th year as a proud returning alumni, having first stepped into this vibrant world between 2001 and 2003. My personal art form and practice delve into the dynamic and expressive realm of comic art, where stories and characters come to life through intricate visuals and narratives.

Outside of Usdan's enriching environment, I dedicate my time as a Special Education Teacher in the Brentwood School District, where I strive to make a difference in the lives of my students. My passion for education extends into my doctoral research at St. John's University, where I am exploring the impact of gamification, social emotional learning, and literacy scores through various quantitative studies.

In addition to my educational pursuits, I am an avid Abbott World Majors Marathon runner, having completed marathons in cities around the globe, including Tel Aviv, London, Chicago, and New York. This unique journey not only fuels my love for running but also connects me with diverse cultures and communities.
