What's New With U? Week 2
What a week! We started off with a bang as students enjoyed a show-stopping performance by Broadway actors at our annual Voices of Broadway Festival Performance, a fan favorite. But, it didn't stop there. Our surprise and delight continued with jaw-dropping performances by some of our many talented staff members and Usdan alumni – Sam Dillon, Spencer Glass, James Crichton, and Kyra Leeds – as well as a Summer 2022 debut performance of Usdan's Artists in Residence, The Knights, who are investigating the theme of Water with Music and Dance students this summer.
In studios across campus, students continued to learn diverse music repertoire, rehearse thrilling musicals and plays, write captivating poems and stories, and develop interesting choreography for upcoming performances in Weeks 3 and 4.
The next two weeks are bound to be extraordinary with student Festival Performances nearly every day as well as Art, Chess, and Nature Open Studios during which students will showcase how their artwork, chess-playing skills, and nature knowledge have blossomed so far this summer.
And, let's not forget about the delicious ice cream treats that cooled us down every day. Ice cream, always ice cream.
PRAISE FOR THE STAFF
These last two weeks have been the most enjoyable and happy weeks I can recall in my now seven summers as Executive Director of Usdan. As a seasoned enough Director, I know exactly why this occurred: because of each of our staff members.
As a result of the hard work, dedication, and great attitudes of our staff, the children now seem to feel safe. And this is a critical first step for what we do. For once the students feel safe, they become more comfortable being their most creative and expressive selves. Then, the fun really begins!
I can't want to witness their joy all summer long.
Warmly,
Lauren Brandt Schloss, Executive Director
