A New Future
Dear Usdan Community,
This year — Summer 2021 — feels like the true beginning of Usdan's new future.
The world is a messy place right now. For well over a year, our collective children and students have been impacted by this pandemic, by continuing racial injustice, by our growing divisions, and by our persistent inaction to address climate change.
Usdan is here to propose to children an alternative reality, the place we wish the whole world could be.
The job of the faculty and staff this summer is to demonstrate to children that a better future already exists at Usdan; the children’s job is to become comfortable, free and creative in that world.
If you would like, please reply with what you believe a child needs most from the Usdan experience this summer.
Sincerely,
Lauren Brandt Schloss, Executive Director
P.S. I am happy to share a photo of a new flower my colleague found on campus this week. Enjoy.
